Getting Started
What the tool is for, what counts as a sequence and how the window is laid out
What it does
The Image Sequence Viewer is a desktop tool for reviewing rendered image sequences side by side. Point it at a render folder and every subfolder of frames becomes a clip in one scrolling grid. Move the mouse across a clip to scrub through its frames, or switch to Autoplay to loop it at 12 to 96 fps.
Review is built in: press F or R to mark a shot for Fix or ReRender, type a note for any shot, and filter the grid down to just the marked clips. The ReRender list can be cleaned up with find and replace rules and copied as one comma-separated line, ready to paste into another tool. Favorites keep up to ten folders one click away, and timers can reload the grid or sort loose frames into sequence folders while renders are still coming in. Notes, markers and settings are saved between sessions.
Sequences
A sequence is any subfolder of the Directory Path that holds at least one file with a listed extension (see Extensions under Settings). Each sequence shows as one clip in the grid. Folders are listed A to Z and frames are sorted by file name.
Files sitting directly in the Directory Path are ignored, and only one folder level is scanned. Sort Sequences can move loose frames into sequence folders for you.
Window layout
- Clip grid (left): one clip per sequence. Scroll it, or drag with the middle mouse button to pan.
- Side panel (right): Directory Path, then the Favorites, Shot Notes, Settings and Sort Sequences sections.
- Bottom bar: the Reload button.
Click a section header, such as ▸ Favorites, to open or close it. Open and closed states are remembered. Drag the divider between the grid and the side panel to resize it.

Shot Notes
The review area: write notes, mark clips Fix or ReRender, filter the grid to marked clips, and build a comma-separated list of ReRender names to paste into another tool. Everything here is saved as you go.

Sort Sequences
Tidy a folder of loose render frames into one subfolder per sequence, so the viewer can show them
How sorting works
Each file in the top level of the Sort Directory Path moves into a subfolder named after the file without its frame number and extension: shot_010.0001.png goes into shot_010\. This needs a dot before the frame number. A name like shot_010_0001.png gets a folder of its own per frame.
All file types are moved, not just the listed extensions. A file with the same name already in the target folder is replaced. Sorting does not reload the grid; use Set Path/Refresh or Auto Refresh for that.

What Is Saved
What the tool remembers between sessions
Saved
in the Windows registry, for your user account
- Directory Path, favorites, notes, markers and export rules
- Every Settings value, the Sort Directory Path and both timer intervals
- Which sections are open, the window size and position, and the side panel width
Not saved
- Whether a timer is on (both start OFF)
- The selected clip
- The Show Fixes and Show ReRenders filters
Notes and markers are stored by sequence folder name only. Two folders with the same name share one note and one set of markers, even under different Directory Paths.
