In short: Brute3D Face collects no personal data. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party code, and it never sends anything to us. Your face data goes only to the computer you connect it to.

What the app does

Brute3D Face uses your iPhone's front camera and Apple's ARKit face tracking to measure your facial expressions, and sends them to Brute3D, a 3D animation application running on a computer you choose, so you can animate your own 3D characters.

Camera and face data

ARKit processes the camera image on your iPhone and produces:

  • 52 facial expression values (ARKit "blendshapes", such as how far your jaw is open), and
  • the position and rotation of your head and eyes.

The camera image and the 3D face mesh are only drawn on your screen as a preview. They are never saved or sent anywhere. The app does not use face data to identify you, does not use it for authentication, and does not use it for advertising, marketing or any other purpose than animating your characters in Brute3D.

What leaves your iPhone, and where it goes

Nothing is sent until you enter a computer's address and tap Connect. Then the app sends, only to that address (normally your own PC on your local network):

  • the expression values and head and eye pose, for each camera frame;
  • the performer name you typed in Settings, the app's version number and your iPhone model (for example "iPhone15,2"), so Brute3D can show who is connected;
  • recorded takes (see below), when Brute3D asks for them.

None of this is sent to us or to any third party. We have no servers that receive data from the app.

Takes stored on your iPhone

When you press Record in Brute3D, the app records a "take": the expression values and head pose for every frame, with timestamps. Each take is saved as a CSV file in the app's Documents folder on your iPhone, where you can see it in the Files app, and is sent to Brute3D on your computer. Takes stay on your iPhone until you delete them in the app or the Files app, or delete the app. Copies received by Brute3D are stored on your computer, under your control.

Settings

Your settings (computer address, port, performer name and display options) are stored only on your iPhone.

Permissions

  • Camera: to track your facial expressions.
  • Local Network: to send your animation to Brute3D on your network.

You can turn either off at any time in the iPhone's Settings > Privacy & Security.

Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
